Having demonstrated, publicly, for several years now that the Sport of Kings can be beaten, I am often approached by folks wondering if I have ever attempted to play the ponies for a living, and whether or not I believe such an endeavor is possible — or practical. My answers are simple: yes, yes and generally not. Although I genuinely believe that one can turn a profit playing the races, I’m not sure it is a viable career option (at least for most). Heat, electric, food, clothes and shelter, all those annoying expenses, tend to whittle away the capital needed for that kind of venture.
That being said, the best chance that a horseplayer has at consistently beating the game is by identifying races and horses that are most likely to produce inefficient odds, overlays, or "value plays". My Win Factor Method (fair odds) reports are the best way to accomplish that goal.

For those who would describe themselves as novice to intermediate horseplayers, there is no better book on the market today that shows how to successfully apply stock market theories to horse racing than mine. I was first published on the subject in 2000 by American Turf Monthly, and that article was so well received that Blood-Horse Publications / Eclipse Press asked me to write sort of a layperson's handbook on the topic which we titled, Handicapping the Wall Street Way: Picking Xtra Winners at the Track. I would not have put my name on it if I did not think it could prove profitable to the reader.
Similairly, I would not have risked my 20-year reputation in the regulated securities industry by becoming partners with somebody I did not KNOW for certain had the integrity to 1.
